It uses the same type of tape and compression as DV and MiniDV, but at higher speed (almost 50% faster) and wider track pitch. DVCAM uses metal evaporative technology to produce high output and high C/N ratio, resulting in superb picture quality and low error rate. DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) protective layer provides enhanced tape surface durability which is critical during long editing sessions. Records at 25Mbps; records component video with 8-bit DCT 5:1 compression, 4:1:1.
