Sony HDCAM SR (Superior Resolution) Sony HDCAM SR is a next-generation master recording media for both acquisition and delivery of HD content, and is designed to maximize recordings in HDCAM SR professional digital videotape recorders. With its higher particle density, it was designed along with Sony HDCAM SR VTRs for maximum system performance.

HDCAM SR is an advanced metal tape technology, utilizing metal particles 50% smaller than in HDCAM, recording 2.7 times more data than HDCAM. Ultra fine high-performance metal particles and other manufacturing innovations allow these cassettes to capture recording wavelength to 0.29um and represent the highest performance metal particle tape in the 1/2" broadcast family. SR records more color at a higher resolution. Ideal for Sony's cinematic CineAlta range of products, high performance applications from transmission to ENG/EFP, motion pictures, commercials. and high-end television production as a master recording media.
